Industry History
OUR PAST
Cattle, one of the first working capital assets, has been a symbol for wealth,
power, and prosperity throughout the ages. It is really no big surprise that cattle
are still of great value in today's standards, fulfilling our desire for mouth-watering
flavor, taking inches off our waste, hips and thighs, with the
Atkins Diet, and enhancing our wealth.
Did you know that Wall Street was named after a wall that protected cattle and other
livestock from predatory wildlife? As the namesake implies, our national wealth
has been built by the cattle industry, as well as playing a vital role in our country
and the world's development. The United States Cattle industry first sprouted from
cattle brought in overseas from Europe into the American Colonies. As the population
spanned westward so did cattle numbers where small and large cattle producers first
settled.
During and after the Civil War, entrepreneurs envisioned the cattle industry as
a huge business opportunity. A market infrastructure was created in order to market the cattle
dwelling all over the open range of the new country. The
Goodnight-Loving Trail and the more
notable Chisholm Trail
were among the beginnings of the beef cattle marketing infrastructure. These trails
were blazed by wise entrepreneurs such as Charles Goodnight
who drove his Texas cattle to markets from the Southwest to Midwestern stockyards.
The cattle trails are now part of actual highways we drive cars and trucks on today.
OUR PRESENT
Steers were 4 or 5 years old by the time they were gathered and harvested in the
1800's, much older than the 1 and 2 year-old cattle the industry harvests today.
The original Longhorn cattle were eventually replaced by English, Exotic, and Bos
Indicus lineage. These
beef cattle were no longer run on the open range, but kept in enclosed pastures
to prevent over-grazing, as well as create a more productive and efficient supply
mechanism. Eventually, during the 1940's, feedyards were designed to fatten larger
numbers of cattle with less acreage. A more efficient and segmented system of producing
cattle advanced to feed a larger population year round. Quality and consistency
also increased with better management decisions. The world now has access to a supply
of reasonably priced fresh beef throughout the year.
Since the 1940's the cattle feeding business has grown into one of the most powerful
segments of the beef industry where well over 22 million feeder calves per year
are housed and fed. If the U.S. beef industry would have been owned by one enterprise
in 2003, it would have been listed 9th on the Forbes Fortune 500 list. Yes, that
is how big the cattle industry is, and to think that a vast majority of all Choice
cattle harvested in the United States are fattened in a Midwestern feedlot before
the beef reaches the consumer's plate.
OUR FUTURE Is YOUR FUTURE
Our pioneering spirit has led us down dusty trails, rail lines, paved roads, and
now the World Wide Web. Less than 1 percent of the U.S. economy is directly employed
in the cattle industry or own the cattle. This Company offers you on this site the
opportunity to reap the benefits of owning a Cattle Enterprise much the same as
the Cattle Tycoon, Charles Goodnight...The opportunity IS HERE, right now, in the
comfort of your home or office. The Old West is merely a memory recounted through
John Wayne westerns, but the Cattle Business still thrives, stronger than ever.
It is your call. If you desire the best quality and safest food source then pony
up to the good life. We invite you to own a piece of this expansive industry?
Make your Cattle Fortune!!!
